LA HABRA – The La Habra Employees’ Association held its annual Awards Banquet on Friday, March 2, 2012. Robert Jimenez, Systems Analyst for the Information Technology Division was named Employee of the Year. Robert has worked for the City since 2007, and he is known for being a helpful co-worker and trusted problem-solver. During 2011, the Information Technology Division was tasked with providing systems service to the Police Department, which previously had been performed by police personnel. Robert was an integral part of the transition, making suggestions for improvements and maintaining the many technology systems present in the Police Department. Robert has exhibited the highest level of innovation, customer service, teamwork, responsibility and loyalty. (Photo available upon request).
The Part-Time Employee of the Year Award was presented to Maria Tinajero-Dowdle, Program Development Manager for the Children’s Museum. Maria was hired in 2001 and is known for her creative efforts to develop fun programs and activities for children and to also publicize them to attract children from throughout Southern California. Most notably, Maria established an ongoing relationship with KTLA Channel 5 that has resulted in the television station broadcasting from the Museum several times over the past couple of years. Maria has a unique ability to both create and execute outstanding programs and events for the Museum, which brings recognition to the “jewel of La Habra”.

Outstanding Recognition Awards – Nayaly Casillas, Intermediate Clerk, Community Development; and Linda Padilla-Smyth, Housing and Redevelopment Manager, Community Development
Innovative Award – David DeLeon, Recreation Manager, Community Services
Part-Time Customer Service of the Year Award – Bertha Urrutia, Job Developer, Community Services
Customer Service of the Year Award – Dorrie Delgado, Secretary, Public Works
Division of the Year – Information Technology
Department of the Year – Public Works
City Manager’s Awards – Nicole Van Train, Records Supervisor, Police Department; Thom Coughran, Director of Public Works; and Mel Shannon, Deputy Director of Finance
